Lithuania officially observes September 23rd as the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Genocide of Lithuanian Jews. This date was chosen to commemorate the anniversary of the liquidation of the Vilnius ghetto in 1943, a tragic event that occurred during the Holocaust.
